Rohit’s “Photoshopped” image in the warm-up match stirs social media curiosity

According to an unknown X (formerly Twitter) post, a “photoshopped” image of captain Rohit Sharma was posted online.

New Delhi: India started its T20 World Cup 2024 campaign by playing a one-off warm-up match against Bangladesh. The Men in Blue started their campaign on a positive note as they thumped the Tigers in a 60-run win. It was a much-needed breather for the men in blue who are coming into the tournament after a catastrophic loss to Australia in the 2023 ODI World Cup final.

Furthermore, India’s dynamic left-hand batsman Rishab Pant who was out of the international action for a long period made his return to the side with a flurry. On the other hand, Hardik Pandya also had a decent outing on the field. The right-hand batsman who was the centre of immense criticism and speculation for both his IPL form and an alleged divorce from his wife has responded to his critics and delivered a punching performance.

However, even after an all-round performance from Team India, the men in blue found themselves in the middle of yet another social media controversy. It was captain Rohit Sharma who seemed to find himself in yet another controversy on X (formerly Twitter).

The “Photoshopped” image controversy

According to an unknown X (formerly Twitter) post, a “photoshopped” image of captain Rohit Sharma was posted online. The image looked like this:

Rohit already had an average IPL season where his team finished at the bottom. Added to that, the Hitman was relatively cold during the warm-up as he slothed his way to 23 off 19 balls. Moreover, Rohit has been under media scrutiny following a series of events- the stepping down from captaincy, his wife’s support for the “Rafah” cause, the leaked audio tapes and now this.

While many people have found comical amusement in this incident, a few have stepped up for Captain Sharma as well. According to the X (formerly Twitter) post of the MI Fan army, the images which were taken at the start of the World Cup, Sharma was looking completely fine and toned down. The image looked like this:

Naturally, it is safe to assume that the post was a “photoshopped” image aimed at tarnishing the image of Rohit.
