New Delhi: After receiving support from various sections of the sporting fraternity, Vinesh Phogat has now managed to gain the confidence of the ‘Khaps’ of Haryana. The brutal disqualification of Vinesh Phogat has triggered a violent repercussion from the Khaps who have voiced their support in unison for Vinesh.

At the Sarv Khap Mahapanchayat which was held in Charkhi Dadri, the Khaps demanded justice for Vinesh Phogat and demanded that she should be conferred with Bharat Ratna for her dedication and hard work towards the sport and for her country.
Sombir Sangwan, a prominent head of the Sangwan Khap has highlighted the need for a transparent trial in the entire Vinesh Phogat case. According to Sombir, a free and fair judgment will only be possible when a sitting judge of the Supreme Court intervenes in the entire matter. Sombir also raised an important point which has been asked by many people how Vinesh’s weight increased suddenly, thereby suggesting a ‘foul play’ in the entire scene. Furthermore, Sangwan urged the wrestler to reverse her decision to retire as well as promised to honour her upon her return from Paris.
“If we get the medal, people say we are champions but if we don’t get the medal they forget us as well. I just want to request people to not forget what Vinesh has done for the country.”

Vinesh’s story
Vinesh Phogat, India’s freestyle wrestler in the 50kg weight category was able to reach the finals of the freestyle wrestling in the 50kg weight category. However, the Indian wrestler was inches close to the gold medal bout. Subsequently, she was disqualified from the gold medal bout when she was found 100g over the permissible limit which is not allowed.
In the aftermath of this mayhem, Phogat lodged a complaint with the Court of Arbitration for Sport for this unfair ruling. The matter is still subjudiced. However, the verdict is expected to come out soon.
When will the final verdict of CAS will come out?
According to various reports, it was earlier believed that the CAS verdict on Phogat’s case would come out on the 11th of August before the closing ceremony. But now, it is believed that the official verdict will be delayed by 2 days and come on the 13th of August.
