‘Some shots are pre-determined…’: Suryakumar Yadav chats with coach Rahul Dravid after match-winning century (VIDEO)

Dravid, known for his defence, complimented SKY and started the chat by saying that he ‘did not watch me bat’ as they shared a laugh.

New Delhi: Suryakumar Yadav scored his third T20I century and also became the fastest Indian to 1500 runs in the shortest format, leading India to its 12th consecutive series victory. After the game, he had a short chat with coach Rahul Dravid about the third T20I against Sri Lanka, while they also discussed diet and fitness.

Dravid, known for his defence, complimented SKY and started the chat by saying that he ‘did not watch me bat’ as they shared a laugh. The coach went on to say that every time he thinks there cannot be a better T20 inning, Suryakumar shows something better. Answering the question regarding his best inning since last year, Surya said that he cannot pick one, but he enjoyed batting in difficult situations. He added that in times when other teams try to pull the game away, he takes the ‘game on’.

Talking about pre-determined shots, SKY said that in T20s a batter has to pre-determine some shots but needs to have options. He added that he tries to play the field. Rahul Dravid said that SKY does not play some of these shots in the nets but he is creative even during training, to which Surya replied that he tries to middle the ball and hear the sound of the bat in the nets.

Dravid asked Surya about getting a late debut and he answered that it was challenging but his passion for the game kept him driving. Dravid complemented Surya being a lot fitter than when they met at the NCA and asked about the role of his family, while the batter said that his father is an engineer and he saw a spark in him and sacrificed a lot to support him. Talking about his wife he said that the yo-yo test at NCA was a turning point and his wife has helped him with nutrition and fitness.
