New Delhi: Ahead of the second Test in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India’s star batter Virat Kohli went on a long drive to the stadium in his hometown. The cricketer shared a picture of him in a car in India’s practice jersey and wrote that he was driving to the Delhi stadium after ages and it was a ‘nostalgic feeling’.
Feroz Shah Kotla, now known as the Arun Jaitley Stadium, is the place where young Virat Kohli developed his skills to become one of the best in the world. The batter has played only three out of 105 Test matches in his hometown and the format is returning to the stadium after six years as it will host the second Test between India and Australia.
Kohli, who currently lives in Mumbai with his wife Anushka Sharma and daughter Vamika, has a great record playing in Delhi. He has scored 467 runs in three Tests, including a double ton against Sri Lanka.
In the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy, India won the first game by an inning and 132 runs Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin picked up seven and eight wickets respectively, while Rohit Sharma scored a century along with contributions from Jadeja and Axar Patel. Virat could only score 12 runs as he gave a catch to keeper Alex Carey on a leg-side delivery by Todd Murphy.
Virat Kohli also dropped catches in slips and could not score much with the bat, but he will look to contribute more at his home ground. The second Test will begin on February 17 at 9:30 am.
