New Delhi: India’s number 1 white ball player and current T20 captain Suryakumar Yadav, will miss the upcoming Duleep Trophy 2024. The right-hand batsman sustained an injury to his hand which has ruled him out of the Duleep Trophy set to start on September 5.
Suryakumar Yadav who recently played the Buchi Babu Invitational for Mumbai against TNCA XI had missed the last day’s play due to the hand injury and did not come out to bat. Surya was set to play for the India C team against India D at Ananthapur scheduled to start from September 5th to September 8th. Earlier, Surya had expressed his desire to return to red-ball cricket. Naturally, Duleep Trophy would have been a golden opportunity for the right-hand batsman to make a comeback to red-ball cricket.
Meanwhile, fast bowlers Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik had also been ruled out of the opening round of the Duleep Trophy because of illness. Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav are expected to replace Siraj and Umran for the India B and C squads. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja had also withdrawn. However, no reason has been provided so far on Jadeja’s absence.
