Suryakumar Yadav expresses desire to play red ball cricket for India; Set to make a comeback in Buchi Babu Invitational

With an eye to return to the Test side once again, Suryakumar Yadav is set to play for the Mumbai team in the Buchi Babu Invitational in the month of August.

New Delhi: As per the latest reports and developments in Indian cricket, newly-appointed T20 Captain Suryakumar Yadav has expressed his desire to play for the national side in all three formats- T20, ODI and Test. The Mumbai-based cricketer has already established himself in the shortest format.

Suryakumar Yadav was the no.1 batsman in the ICC T20 rankings for batsmen (currently it is held by Travis Head of Australia). Yadav has been involved in the ODI side as well sporadically. However, it is the red ball cricket where Surya still needs to cement his position. It was believed that the red ball career of Surya is coming to a dead end and there were chances that Surya may not feature in the Test side again.

But contrary to everyone’s expectations, Surya looks to push his limits and boundaries and make a comeback to red-ball cricket once again. With this, the Indian cricketer looks to make a comeback in the Test scenario once again. So far Surya has demonstrated tremendous versatility when it comes to white-ball cricket. However, Test cricket requires a lot of patience which Surya has failed to demonstrate at times. But with this decision coming from the player itself, coach Gautam Gambhir will be very happy who has more or less selected Surya as his favourite boy.

Surya makes himself available for the Buchi Babu Invitational

To initiate his comeback into the test side, Suryakumar Yadav has decided to play in the Buchi Babu Invitational in the second half of August which is set to take place in the state of Tamil Nadu. Earlier, Yadav said that he was not interested in playing the red ball tournament and was left out of the Mumbai squad.

With this recent decision of Surya, the Indian T20I captain is once again included in the squad under the captaincy of Sarfaraz Khan. After the Buchi Babu Invitational, Surya will play in the Duleep Trophy to add to his experience of red-ball cricket. With India not playing any bilateral white ball series till October (against Bangladesh), some greater things are cooking for the Mumbaikar as he looks to snatch his rightful position once again!
