New Delhi: While addressing the press after an 8-wicket loss against England, Pakistan’s bowling coach Shaun Tait shocked everyone with a statement. The former Australian pacer opened up about being sent to face the media after a huge loss. Tait said, “When we lose badly… they send me when we get beaten badly.”

His statement surprised the Pakistan team and the media. Following the discomfort, the PCB moderator switched off the microphone and asked Tait if he was fine. He might have also conveyed that the statement might create controversy. Resuming the press conference, Shaun Tait backed the bowlers for good death bowling in the last game.
He later said, “They just attacked us. They came out attacking, every ball they tried to hit a boundary. It worked for the first three overs and, in some way, it put our bowlers off guard a little bit.” He also accepted that the bowlers did not do anything wrong, but it was the English batters who played well and beat Pakistan.
In the game, England chased 169 in just 14.3 overs as Phil Salt smashed 88* off just 41 balls including 13 fours and three sixes. Pakistan’s pace attack had no answer to Salt’s effortless batting. Pakistan was however not playing their best side as after Shaheen Shah Afridi and Naseem Shah missing due to health concerns, Harris Rauf was rested, which weakened the pace attack. Even Mohammad Rizwan was replaced by debutant Mohammad Harris and Pakistan had a poor start in the batting too. It was Babar Azam’s 87*(59) and Iftikhar Ahmed’s 31(21) that helped them reach a total of 169.
