New Delhi: In a high-stake semifinal against England, Rohit Sharma dropped his masterclass on the pitch as he hammered England bowlers one after the another. India secured a comfortable victory over the defending champions with a 67-run victory.
The match saw Rohit Sharma reach a well-deserved half-century which came off 39 balls. From the other end, Suryakumar Yadav blasted 47 runs off 36 balls. The partnership between Rohit and Surya of 73 runs lifted the languishing innings of India from 40/2 to 113/3 in 13.4 overs.

It also became the foundation of a par score for Team India as they ended with 171/7. Apart from the contributions from Sharma and Surya, vice-captain Hardik Pandya also scored a quickfire 23 off 13 balls. Hardik’s brief stay on the crease included 2 sixes. Post the departure of Hardik, Axar and Jadeja also played mini cameos to boost the score past 150.

In reply, the bowlers showcased their class to bundle the England innings for 103 in 16.4 overs! Apart from Buttler, Brook and Archer none of the batsmen could find their footing.
Rohit’s stump mic chatter with Surya!
The Indian skipper has been in scintillating form lately. In the last two games, Rohit has two 50+ scores with a potential century against the Aussies. The hitman has been striking the white ball at will and has a strike rate hovering between 150 to 250. Sharma’s blistering innings against England 6 fours and two towering sixes.

Out of the two six, one came off Liam Livingstone in the 11th over. But the fun fact is the six did not create a sensation amongst the fans, rather the humorous chatter that was exchanged between Rohit and Surya created the hype. In between the over, Surya sensed that Livingstone might pitch the ball short and went on to the other end to warn Rohit. Rohit smiled and remarked, “Upar Daale Toh Deta Hu Na.“
