New Delhi: After the latest round of hearings in the Vinesh Phogat disqualification case, the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) has decided to defer its final verdict. Phogat had earlier requested either a recheck of the weight before the finals could take place or a joint award for the silver medal in the Women’s Freestyle 50kg.

The Court of Arbitration for Sports had cancelled the first demand of Vinesh but accepted the second case to stand trial. Subsequently, it was believed that the verdict of the entire judgement would come by tonight.

The firm belief in a conclusion for the case also comes from the fact that the final hearing of the case has been completed. Naturally, the only formality left is to deliver the official verdict. Vinesh was earlier disqualified from her final bout after she was found 100g overweight from the prescribed limit. This made her automatically disqualified from the tournament even after reaching the finals. However, in her latest challenge, the Haryanvi grappler said that she had cleared all her knockout rounds with legitimate weights.

Here’s what the CAS said today:

When is the verdict coming out- 11th or 13th?

According to some sources, it is believed that the official statement will come on the 11th of August at 6:00 PM. However, many sources have claimed that the official statement will be made public only on the 13th of August i.e. 2 days after the Paris Olympics is concluded.
