“Virat Kohli deserves a trophy…” Kevin Peterson draws parallel with football greats after RCB’s disastrous loss

Speaking after the match, former England batsman Kevin Peterson has remarked that Virat Kohli should now look ahead of RCB and focus on winning the coveted silverware which is missing from his trophy cabinet.

New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bangalore and Virat Kohli were once again at the cusp of scripting history before their hopes were dashed to the ground by a surprising comeback from the Rajasthan Royals. It has been the same story for RCB over the years, so close yet so far.

Speaking after the match, former England batsman Kevin Peterson has remarked that Virat Kohli should now look ahead of RCB and focus on winning the coveted silverware which is missing from his trophy cabinet. The right-hand batsman has been a longtime server of the franchise for the past 16 years.

Kohli has even led the side from the front and reached the finals of the IPL back in 2016. However, on every occasion, the Indian superstar had to taste defeat in the final hurdle.

“Virat Kohli deserves a trophy…” Kevin Peterson

Peterson’s remarks on Kohli reached an interesting side when the former England batsman advised that Kohli should walk out of the franchise and look for “glory” in some other franchise. “I have said it before and I will say it again- the greats of the game in other sports, have left teams to go and seek glory somewhere else…”

To prove his point, Peterson used examples from the world of football, that of Christiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi and David Beckham. “I think it’s about time Virat thought long and hard. Beckham left, Ronaldo left, Messi left, Harry Kane just left Spurs and went to Bayern Munich.” Furthermore, Kevin suggested that Kohli has a strong connection with Delhi and as such he should consider the franchise based on the place where he was born.

Earlier, Virat had already hinted at the possibility that he might end his journey with RCB. Now, under back-to-back failures with his franchise, it will be interesting to see whether the former decides to stay with his franchise or make a transition for his “glory” which is long due.
