VVS Laxman set to fill in for Gautam Gambhir as head coach for the T20I series against South Africa

VVS Laxman will lead the men in Blue for the upcoming South Africa T20I series in absence of the current head coach Gautam Gambhir.

New Delhi: Former Indian cricketer and the current chief of the National Cricket Association, Bengaluru has been selected to fill in for Gautam Gambhir for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa. India is set to play 4 T20Is against South Africa with Suryakumar Yadav at the helm of captaincy.


The timing of the South Africa series collides with the Border-Gavaskar Trophy due to which Gautam Gambhir will be unavailable as the head coach.

Laxman will be accompanied by other members of the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru. Apart from VVS, Sairaj Bahutule, Hrishikesh Kanitkar and Subhadeep Ghosh will form the coaching staff. This golden trio was recently seen as part of the Asia Emerging Cup tournament in Oman.
