New Delhi: On the merry occasion of his 8th wedding anniversary, former Indian cricketer Irfan Pathan penned a heartfelt note for his wife Safa Baig. Taking to his official Instagram handle, Pathan, on Saturday wished his love lady & told her that he cherishes her as his wife.

Along with the adorable note, the cricketer also dropped a picture that revealed his wife’s face publically for the first time since her marriage. The snippet featured Irfan and Saba posing for the camera while standing close to one another.

In the comment section of Pathan’s lovely post for his wife, many of his fans also congratulated the duo for completing 8 years of togetherness & companionship with each other. “She is so gorgeous”, wrote one user. “Wishing a century of togetherness to both of you”, added a second. A third one said, “Ma Sha Allah So beautiful She is my first time seeing her Allah bless you both.”

Meanwhile, a large section of people also bashed Irfan for showing his wife’s face to the public. “BJP Ke certificate ke liye kya kya ker dia Irfan pathani“, said one user critisizing Pathan. Another one came down heavy on the former all-rounder saying, “Irfan brother, Muslim women are supposed to stay in veil. Not a great gesture”
A third fan took things even further & compared Irfan with his brother Yosouf Pathan who has usually refrained from posting a picture of his wife Aftreen Khan with her face uncovered. Sharing a picture of Yousuf & his wife, he wrote, “That’s why your brother is better than you.”

Notably, this is not the first time Pathan has faced criticism over his wife’s clothing choices. Numerous times in the past as well, the cricket has been called out by the fans for keeping Saba’s face vailed while posting pictures featuring her on social media.
