New Delhi: Joe Root has once again gained popularity on social media, though not for his breathtaking batting but because of his comical gesture done by the partnership between Joe Root and left-hand off-spinner Jack Leach.
Root expertly used Jack Leach‘s head to shine the ball. The incident took place on Day 1 of the second Test match at Multan cricket stadium after Pakistan won the toss and opted to bat first.
As England’s bowlers prepared for an over from Leach, Root was spotted rubbing the match ball against Leach’s scalp to enhance its shine. Although the incident was not that significant, it provided the much-required comical amusement for fans who get tired of the monotonous sessions of Test Cricket.
The amusing moment was particularly noticeable as it marked the second time that Joe Root had engaged in such antics with Leach. A similar incident took place during a Test match against Pakistan back in December 2022.
Social Media bursts out in a jocular mood for Root’s gesture!

In a country where calling someone bald is classified as sexual harassment, what kind of charges would they throw at Joe Root for this? 😊#PAKvENG pic.twitter.com/bwIhLi9jjL

Wonderful illustration by the broadcasters on the bat paths of Abdullah Shafique and Joe Root. Abdullah has had few issues where his bat comes around the ball as compared to Root, whose bat stays on the line for longer. pic.twitter.com/oJ98nBvhm3
