Watch Video: Hardik Pandya loses calm as Mohammad Shami misses catch; Fans slam skipper for ill behaviour

Mohammad Shami was standing in the position and could have completed the catch if he had moved forward.

New Delhi: Hardik Pandya, the skipper of Gujarat Titans showed a frustrated side during the encounter between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Gujarat Titans. Gujarat Titans witnessed their first defeat of the season on Monday. The Sunrisers chased down the targeted score of 163 easily, winning the match by eight wickets with face balls to spare.

In the 13th over of the innings, Hardik Pandya brought himself back for his second over to the bowl. SRH’s batsman Kane Williamson hit Pandya back-to-back sixes off the second and third ball of the over. However, Gujarat Titans had the chance to dismiss the other batter on the pitch that is Rahul Tripathi, playing beside Williamson, off the last ball of the over. The batter tried an uppercut which seemed to be flying towards the deep third man.

Mohammad Shami was standing in the position and could have completed the catch if he had moved forward. Rather, he stayed where he was, he also moved back to collect the ball on the bounce. Pandya was agitated by the carefree attitude, with replays showing Pandya screaming at Shami after the fielding effort.

Meanwhile, netizens have been criticizing the captain for such ill-appropriate behaviour. Some of the netizens have even stated that he does not deserve to be a captain.

Here’s are some of the reactions here:

Pandya scored an unbeaten 50 off 42 balls to help Gujarat Titans to reach 162/7. He started off his innings in an aggressive manner as the loss of wickets at the other end forced him to slow down. Williamson played in the opposite manner, taking his own time to score runs in the first 25 balls before scoring 57 off 46. He was dismissed by Pandya in the 17th over. Nicholas Pooran made them reach the finishing line.
