WATCH Wasim Akram’s fierce reaction as Star Sports messes up Pakistan Playing XI ahead of clash with India

Moments later he was told by anchor Mayanti Langer about an error in the list and the former bowler went on to lash out at the broadcasters

New Delhi: Veteran Pak cricketer Wasim Akram blasted the broadcaster on Sunday for displaying incorrect playing XI for the green squad ahead of the high-octane clash against India.

In the Asia Cup match held at the Dubai International Stadium on August 28, the Indian team won the toss and chose to field against its arch rivals, whom it was facing for the first time since their disheartening 10-wicket defeat during the World Cup T20 2021 face off in the same stadium.

As admitted by the cricket legend, at first Akram was happy with his Pak’s playing XI as named by their batting coach Mohammad Yousuf. Though when he noticed the match broadcaster flashing incorrect information on the screen he was left irated.

The latter slammed Star Sports for picking Hasan Ali over Shahnawaz Dahani in the list for Pakistan’s playing XI.

“I am very happy with the Pakistan XI. I wanted Shahnawaz Dahani…Hasan Ali is playing, Rauf is playing. I though Dahani is playing, but obviously he is not in the team”, Wasim began with analysing the list.

On finding defects in the information he further said, “Guys are you sure this is the playing XI. Obviously I was wrong. I was told by Yousuf that Dahani is playing. So if the batting coach does not know there is something wrong somewhere”.

A few moments later he was told by anchor Mayanti Langer about an error in the list and the former bowler went on to lash out at the broadcasters saying, “Don’t keep me happy, keep that guy happy who is putting the wrong team out there guys. It’s a big game, it’s not a small mistake. It’s fine now”.
