New Delhi: The prolific Australian batsman, Glenn Maxwell, is making headlines after his 201 not-out heroics against Afghanistan on Tuesday, which saw the five-time champions Australia qualify for the semifinals of the ODI World Cup for a record ninth time.
Maxwell came out to bat when Australia had lost 4 wickets for just 49 runs. He started his innings slowly, but after the mighty Aussies were reduced to 91 for 7, the big show decided to counterattack the opposition.
He was batting with a strike rate of just 87 before he was given a second chance when Mujeeb dropped a sitter on the backward point when Maxwell was only on 33.
The big show, despite cramping throughout the innings, went on to add 168 runs after that with a strike rate of 180+, to take his team home with 3 wickets and 19 balls to spare.

Maxwell played one of his greatest innings in India, but his connection with India runs deeper than anyone can think, as Maxwell is married to Vini Raman, who is an Indian-origin Australian.

Maxwell met Vini, at a party in 2018 by one of their common friends, and they instantly clicked. The duo dated for 4 years, before Maxwell proposed to her for marriage, which she happily accepted.

They got married through Christian rituals in 2022, before tying knots through traditional Tamil rituals later in the same year.
On September 11, 2023, the duo welcomed their first child, a baby boy and named him Logan Maverick Maxwell. Both Maxwell’s son and wife were present in the stadium during the match and would definitely be proud of his heroics.
