New Delhi: Mascots have always been the centre stage of the Olympics right from 1932 when the Games were held in Los Angeles. Naturally, the Paris 2024 is no different and has a beautiful and cheery mascot. The official mascot of Paris 2024 is the Phryge cap which has a cultural value to the country.

Evolution of mascots over the years:

The red caps which symbolise the idea of freedom were won during the French Revolution and have subsequently been an integral part of the French culture. Phryge is named after the Phrygian Cap. Phrygian originates from the word Phrygia which was a kingdom in ancient Greece (modern-day Turkey) where the cap denotes the thousand of slaves who were freed.

When is the Paris Olympics 2024?

India and France share a time difference of 3 hours and 30 minutes behind. So, the Indian fans will have a lot of adjustments to their clock dials to be on time throughout the Olympics to keep track of the events. The opening ceremony of the Paris Olympics is scheduled to take place on the 26th of July at 8:24 pm (local time).
