New Delhi: Indian star boxer Nitu Ghanghas has won the gold medal at the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships 2023. She beat Mongolian boxer Altansetseg Lutsaikhan by a unanimous decision to mark her victory and become the world champion. She went on with the offense since the beginning and was just too strong for her opponent.
Nitu went on with the attack in the first round and landed a few punches. While both boxers tangled and Nitu landed on the mat, the round went in her favour for her strong jabs. In round 2, she kept her dominance going and won this round as well.

In the third round, however, Nitu received a yellow card and things looked to go out of her hands. The Commonwealth Games gold medallist kept on striking and eventually was named the winner with a 5-0 decision.
While India has confirmed a few more medals, this is the first medal that physically came into the account in the ongoing World Championships and there could not be a better way than gold with dominance, to start filling the medal tally.
