New Delhi: India’s Gukesh Dommaraju scripted history on Thursday as he became the youngest chess player to win the World Chess Championship. The Indian chess grandmaster had his ‘eureka!’ moment after 7 years since he saw the dream back in 2017 to become the youngest chess world champion.
In the finals, Gukesh overcame the stiff resistance of Ding Liren in game 14 of the World Chess Championship 2024 in Singapore. Interestingly, there are just 18 World Chess Champions so far, Gukesh being the only teenager in the elite list of champions.
