WTC Final 2023: Indian coaching staff sheds light on net sessions, preparation ahead of one-off Test against Aus (VIDEO)

The important part of their preparation includes adapting to conditions and shifting from white ball to red ball.

New Delhi: Indian men’s cricket team is set to face Australia in the World Test Championship Final and the players have begun their training sessions in London. The important part of their preparation includes adapting to conditions and shifting from white ball to red ball. Throwing light on the preparations, India’s coaching staff talked about getting into the groove for the one-off Test.

In a video shared by BCCI, the Indian players can be seen practicing in the nets while coaches Paras Mhambrey, T Dilip, and Vikram Rathour talk about their plans. Bowling coach Paras Mhambrey said that initially, it was about ‘easing into the practice sessions’ but they pushed the bowlers in the last two sessions. He added that he is happy with the conditions and the weather. Mhambrey said that the day before the match will be off for bowlers so they will push them in the coming sessions.

Fielding coach T Dilip mentioned that many players have come after playing in the IPL so they had to take care of the workload. He said that the ground fielding has been covered in IPL and the focus is on catching, especially close, flat and slip catches.

Batting coach Vikram Rathour said that players came after playing a big tournament and the training session is about adapting to red ball cricket.

The video showed Virat Kohli and Cheteshwar Pujara practicing batting and catching while pacers including Umesh Yadav and Shardul Thakur were seen bowling in nets. Skipper Rohit Sharma has also joined the Indian team in London.

WTC Final 2023 will take place at The Oval, London from June 7 onwards.
