Speaker Om Birla welcomed the MPs and said that it was an extraordinary occassion and urged them to follow all arrangements and guidelines for safety during the COVID-19 pandemic phase.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla has convened an all-party meeting tomorrow ahead of the winter session of Parliament beginning Monday.
Birla said the festival, signifying the victory of good over the forces of evil, symbolizes the values of courage and sacrifice and of upholding the principles of dharma in all stages of life.
The Speaker urged the agitating members to go back to their seats and allow the Question Hour session to continue. But the opposition members were on their feet shouting slogans like "we want justice" and "tanashahi nahi chalegi".
The nomination of Birla a two-time MP from Kota, Rajasthan has been supported by ten political parties including Biju Janata Dal (BJD) and YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) will support the candidature of candidate Birla for the post.
The development comes a day after the Pro-tem Speaker Virendra Kumar was sworn in by the President and over 300 MPs took oath during the inaugural session of the 17th Lok Sabha.
