New Delhi: The Haryana government has appointed Indian wrestler Babita Phogat and Kabaddi player Kavita Devi as deputy directors in...

By appointing Dhankar, the BJP has continued with a Jat face, the most dominant caste in the state. Dhankar will replace incumbent Subhash Barala, who was also a Jat.

The decision comes days after several journalists tested positive for coronavirus in Mumbai and Chennai.

The total number of ministers in the state Cabinet has now gone up to 12, including Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala.

Khattar also took oath as Haryana Chief Minister for the second term after the recently concluded polls in the state. In the Assembly polls, BJP fell short of six seats to get a majority in 90-member Haryana Assembly.

Khattar along with JJP chief Chautala met Governor Satyadev Narayan Arya on Saturday and staked the claim to form the government with the support of 57-MLAs.

Senior BJP leader Manohar Lal was unanimously elected as leader of BJP legislative party in Haryana in Chandigarh today.

Speaking on Haryana Lokhit Party leader Gopal Kanda and independent candidates pledging support to BJP, Jain said, "Currently, they have offered their support to us. The next course of action will be determined after deliberations with our national leadership."

BJP has won 40 seats in the 90-member Haryana assembly and needs the support of six MLAs to cross the half-way mark to retain power in the state.

Kanda's brother Gobind Kanda had said that Haryana Lokhit Party is in touch with five more MLAs, who will extend their "unconditional support" to the ruling party.
