Among stocks, index heavyweight Reliance Industries slipped by 2.08 per cent to trade at Rs 1,565.80 per share. The others in negative zone included Coal India, Nestle India, HDFC Bank and Adani Ports.
Private lender IndusInd Bank gained by 2.5 per cent to Rs 1,376.25 per share. Housing finance company HDFC was up by 1.5 per cent while State Bank of India ticked up by 1 per cent.
Tata Steel and JSW Steel were down by 2.4 per cent and 2.2 per cent respectively. Zee Entertainment, Tech Mahindra and HCL Technologies also lost between 1.7 per cent and 2.8 per cent each.
Meanwhile, Asian shares edged lower as Wall Street stocks dropped on signs that the US-China trade war could hurt corporate earnings. Earlier in the week, US President Donald Trump kept up pressure on Beijing with a threat to put tariffs on another 325 billion dollars of Chinese goods.
Among stocks, Indiabulls Housing Finance gained nearly 4 per cent while UPL was up over 2 per cent. Eicher Motors, Yes Bank and State Bank of India also gained between 1.2 to 1.7 per cent
