Apple to start iPhone 14 production in India at same time as China: Reports

Ming-Chi Kuo, a popular Apple analyst, said that according to his survey, the production site will ship the new iPhone 14 at the same time in India as in China.

New Delhi: The production of Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 is said to start simultaneously in China and India. Usually, the company starts production in China and after a duration of a few months only, the production facilities go outside the country.

Ming-Chi Kuo, a popular Apple analyst, said that according to his survey, the production site will ship the new iPhone 14 at the same time in India as in China. Before, the production facilities were about a quarter behind in India. Kuo tweeted, “My latest survey indicates Foxconn’s iPhone production site in India will ship the new 6.1″ iPhone 14 almost simultaneously with China for the first time in 2H22 (India being one quarter or more behind in the past).”

If Kuo’s survey turns out to be true, it will be for the first time that Apple starts production of a new iPhone in another country at the same time as it does in China. According to the analyst, Apple is looking to boost the production of its products outside China. The company has faced many hindrances due to the strict COVID-19 lockdown policies in China. Reportedly, Apple is trying to reduce the geopolitical impacts on supply and sees the growing Indian market as an opportunity.

During her visit to Taiwan, Nancy Pelosi visited various manufacturers, including Apple suppliers like TSMC and Pegatron. Since then the Sino-USA trade tensions have soared. This can also have an impact on the launch date of the iPhone 14, which was expected to release in September 2022. According to Reuters, Apple told suppliers that China has started enforcing a long-standing rule that Taiwanese-made parts and components must be labelled as made either in “Taiwan, China” or “Chinese Taipei.”
