Musk’s announcement of charging the blue tick and his explanation for the same has garnered mixed reactions online

New Delhi: A sequence of significant changes in Twitter’s board and policies has been taking place since billionaire Elon Musk walked into company’s headquarters in San Fransico, holding a bathroom sink in his hands, described by him as – “Let that sink in!”

Among other controversial changes, the recent one came in on Tuesday as latter announced that the ‘blue tick subscription’ on the platform will now be chargeable. Yes, a blue tick tag which was previously free of cost, will now cost USD $8 a month (nearly Rs 660) and includes several perks as well.
Explaining the perks in a Twitter thread, Musk told that it will end the present ‘lords & peasants system’ on the site, one will get priority in search and replies which is essential to fight ‘spam and scam’, and will generate revenue for the site to ‘reward content creators’.

While Musk’s announcement of charging the blue tick and his explanation for the same has garnered mixed reactions online, the latter has changed his profile picture as well as his bio hours after sharing the news.

Musk changed his DP to his old pic as a toddler wherein he is holding a telephone and seem to be engaged in a conversation, giving a witty take to the picture, he further added a matching bio which read – “Complaint Hotline Operator”.
