From Google to Twitter, meet 5 Indian origin CEOs of the US tech giants

Former IIT Madras student, has been at Google since 2004, rising through various ranks to eventually leading the entire company.

New Delhi: Co-founder and CEO of microblogging site Twitter, Jack Dorsey recently announced that he was resigning as CEO of Twitter and that Parag Agrawal was replacing him.

Dorsey had created Twitter with Noah Glass, Biz Stone, and Evan Williams in March 2006 and launched in July of that year which went on to become one of the accompanied technology entrepreneurs.

“Parag has been behind every critical decision that helped turn this company around. He’s curious, probing, rational, creative, demanding, self-aware and humble,” Dorsey posted on his Twitter account.

1. Sundar Pichai (Google)

In December 2019, Google co-founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin announced that they were stepping down from their respective posts in the Alphabet and Google, as the company did not need a President and two CEOs anymore. They further announced that Sundar Pichai would be the new CEO of both – Alphabet and Google. Pichai, a former IIT Madras student, has been at Google since 2004, rising through various ranks to eventually leading the entire company.

2. Parag Agrawal (Twitter)

The former IIT Bombay student Agarwal is now joining the gracious list of US tech companies helmed by Indian origin CEOs. Prior to Twitter, Parag has been a part of other tech companies such as Microsoft, Yahoo, and AT&T Labs.He joined Twitter in 2011 and rose through the ranks and became the company’s Chief Technology Officer (CTO) in 2018.

3. Satya Nadella (Microsoft)

Satyanarayan Nadella became the CEO of American multinational technology Microsoft Corporation in 2014. Nadella, who has been a part of Microsoft since 1992, have the company in its major projects. He also happens to be the working force behind in transforming Microsoft in one of the largest cloud computing infrastructures.

4. Arvind Krishna (IBM)

Arvind Krishna, who started his career with IBM in 1990, rose through various ranks to the CEO of IBM In April 2020. Arvind is known for being the major force behind the IBM’s largest acquisition of $34 billion of Red Hat.

5. Shantanu Narayen (Adobe)

Shantanu Narayen

Narayen, who joined the company in 1998 as the senior VP of worldwide Product development became the executive VP of worldwide products in 2005 and took over as the CEO to Adobe in the same year. He has remained the CEO of Adobe since 2007.
