Google introduces Artificial Intelligence features in the Google Maps keeping Indian roads in focus

Tech giant Google has announced 6 brand-new Artificial Intelligence (AI) features for Google Maps keeping the Indian roads in mind.

New Delhi: Tech giant Google has announced 6 brand-new Artificial Intelligence (AI) features keeping the Indian roads in mind. Google has said that it used the system of satellite imagery and Street View Data to estimate the width of the road which can benefit the two-wheelers. Apart from this, many new updates are also in place for pedestrians as well to navigate the Indian roads.

Flyover alert system

The major highlight of the new update of Google is the Flyover alert system. Using this alert feature, drivers can get a callout whether they have to take the flyover or not based on the quality of the road and the traffic on the same. So far it is predicted that the feature will be available for Android devices and Android Auto across 40 cities of India. However, in the coming days, the same will be available for iOS.

Narrow Road Alert

Another important update is the ‘Narrow Road’ alert system which will help the four-wheelers to get prior alerts if the road is of optimum dimension or not. These alerts will prevent drivers from plunging their precious four-wheelers into narrow lanes and thereby prevent scratches.

EV Charging stations

Another important update of Google Maps will be the information on the 8000 EV charging stations spread across the country. For its latest update, Google has partnered with ElectricPe, Ather, Kazam, and Statiq for seamless integration of information in its interface. India has seen a surge in EV vehicles in recent years. Naturally, this update will be a relief for all EV users who have electric vehicles. Like the above update, this update will be only available for Android so far.

Metro tickets on Google Maps!

The latest upgrade of Google Maps will also allow users to book metro tickets on their apps. This feature is only available for Kochi and Chennai and is the result of the collaboration of Google with Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) and Namma Yatri.

Curated Tourist places

The latest update will also give tourists a curated list of places to visit for the tourists across 10 cities- Bengaluru, Delhi, Mumbai, Goa, Hyderabad, Pune, Ahmedabad, Chennai, Kolkata and Jaipur. Google has partnered with NDTV Food and MagicPin for the latest feature.
