GTA 6: Release of the game may delay; Fans wanting shorter wait

Fans have been eagerly waiting for the release of GTA 6, however, reports suggest that there might be delay in its release and not before 2023.

New Delhi: Gamers are eagerly waiting to play GTA 6 on PS5 and Xbox Series X however it seems that they have to wait longer. The latest report suggests that Rockstar Games might be ready to launch its next-gen Grand Theft Auto project before 2023 while others believe that the wait can be even longer.

GTA 5 was launched on Xbox 360 and PS3 a long time ago, and the wait has become too baffling for the gamers. However, the game continues to remain popular especially due to the ongoing success of GTA Online.

To some gamers, the launch of GTA 6 at the same time as the next generation consoles makes sense, but others have been waiting for a long time and the delay in the launch of Grand Theft Auto will have a more extensive install base on PS5 and Xbox Series X.

Notably, GTA 6 will not be available to play on Play Station 4 or Xbox One consoles.

Recently, Take-Two Interactive CEO, Strauss Zelnick shared his views on entertainment products like GTA. Comparing to James Bond and other enduring franchises, he stated his thoughts focussing on what key factors need to be placed last long and continue to entertain fans in 2021. During Jefferies Virtual Global Interactive Entertainment Conference, Zelnick explained that, “If it’s really great it’ll keep going.” “You would like every franchise to be James Bond. There are precious few entertainment franchises of any sort that fall into that category but they do exist,” he added.

Further, he said, “I think GTA is one of them. I think Red Dead is one of them, and NBA is one of them. Borderlands, BioShock, Civilization and other titles have the ability to be titles like that but once the gating factor…it’s all about quality.” “It’s also about being willing to rest a title so you have a sense that ‘wow this is a rare event.’ I’ve always said that annualizing non-sports titles runs the risk of burning out the intellectual property even if it’s good.”

Adding Zelnick stated, “We take the time to make something we think is incredibly phenomenal and we also rest titles intentionally so there’s pent-up demand for that title so it’s a special event.”

“I am going to see a Bond film because there isn’t another one in two months. I’m going to see every Bond film, and if it’s bad, I’m going to be really upset–it’ll be like a personal affront because I believe that IP is great. And that’s the compact that Rockstar has with its consumers.”

Though this doesn’t reveal the release day of GTA 6, it explains why the gamers are eagerly waiting to play it.
