Here’s how to hide read receipts on Instagram with 4 easy steps, Zuckerberg announce new privacy feature

Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri and its parent company’s (META) founder Mark Zuckerberg announced a new exciting feature on their Instagram broadcast account. Zuckerberg wrote, “If you are someone who leaves people on read, your day has come.”

New Delhi: Just like its popular messaging platform WhatsApp, Meta will now allow Instagram users to read someone’s DM (Direct Message) without letting them know about the same.

If reports are to be believed, the tech giant is preparing to soon add a feature to its population social media platform Instagram that will enable its users to turn off their read recipes.

What are read receipts?

Read receipts are small “seen” messages on Instagram and “blue double ticks” on WhatsApp that are automatically sent by these platforms to an individual after their message gets seen by the receiving person. This not only helps one know that his message has been received by a particular person but also lets them know if someone is ignoring it despite opening and reading it.

However, the disadvantage of this feature is that it often puts physiological pressure on people to respond to someone even when they are not ready to do the same. Besides that, being left on read also causes misunderstanding between two individual which adversely affects their mental health in the end.

To eliminate all these issues, Instagram’s CEO Adam Mosseri and its parent company’s (META) founder Mark Zuckerberg announced a new exciting feature on their Instagram broadcast account. Zuckerberg wrote, “If you are someone who leaves people on read, your day has come.”

Meanwhile, Adam penned, “We heard your feedback and have started testing a new feature that lets you turn read receipts off in your DMs. Soon, people will be able to choose when to let others see when they’ve read their messages,” he added. Mosseri also included a picture, showing what the option will look like.” He then also shared a screengrab of the latest feature that is bound to enhance the privacy of the platform’s users to a whole new level.

However, It is important to mention here that the feature is still in its testing stage and is only available for a handful of users as of now. Additionally, META has yet to disclose when they will roll it out for the public at large.

Nevertheless, once available for all users, the read receipt disabling feature is destined to receive a positive response from Instagram users as the same will let them enjoy their time on the social media platform in a stress-free manner without having to worry about replying to people right away.
