#LeavingTwitter trends on top after Elon Musk acquires company; memes a gogo

Many celebrities including Hollywood actress Jameela Jamil were some of the first names to withdraw their names from the site

New Delhi: The deal to acquire microblogging site Twitter has finally been sealed by Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who has acquired the company for nearly $44 billion.

The speculations about the acquisition have been going on since earlier this month when Musk had brought a 9.2% stake in Twitter Inc. resulting in him becoming the solo largest individual shareholder in the company.

The billionaire has been a vocal critic of Twitter’s ‘anti-free speech’ policies and had openly said that he thinks the social media site was not performing up to its real potential.

Right after acquiring Twitter, Musk wrote in a tweet, “I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means”.

However, a section on social media is busy poking fun at several well-known influencers in various fields who had directly or indirectly suggested on leaving the site if it was acquired by Musk. Reason being his political and ideological differences from many.

Many celebrities including Hollywood actress Jameela Jamil were some of the first names to withdraw their names from the site. Poking fun at the section willing to leave the site, witty and humorous memes have erupted on the popular social media platfom.
