WiFi 7: Meet Qualcomm’s faster, smarter project

Qualcomm Technologies’ Wi-Fi 7 solutions push the boundaries of what Wi-Fi can do, with enhanced speeds, latency and network capacity plus support.

New Delhi: The digital world changes every other day with the launch of new technologies. Most of us are aware of the use of Wi-Fi and its speed. It changed wireless internet connectivity. At present, many of us use the Wi-Fi 5 technology and WiFi6 is still in the early stage of adoption.

However, Qualcomm has already announced that it is working on the next generation of WiFi which will be called WiFi 7. Qualcomm will change the experience of the usage of everyone with its speed of transferring data.

Below here, you can find more detail about the Wi-Fi 7. The details of the next-generation technology are shared by Qualcomm.

What is Wi-Fi 7?

The 7th generation of Wi-Fi, also referred to as IEEE 802.11be or Wi-Fi 7, is an extremely high throughput wireless network that uses 2.4Ghz, 5Ghz, and 6Ghz frequency bands. Wi-Fi 7 leverages advanced technology to maximize overall capacity, decrease latency and increase speed to every device.

Wi-Fi 7 introduces several multi-link options that can significantly increase throughput and reduce latency. The most powerful multi-link alternative is High-Band Simultaneous Multi-Link, which uses two Wi-Fi radios operating simultaneously in the high bands (5 or 6 GHz), creating one aggregated data pipe to deliver optimal performance, even in congested areas.

What is the difference between WiFi 6 and WiFi 7?

It is reported that Wi-Fi 7 will use three frequency bands — 2.4GHz, 5GHz and 6GHz — instead of the two frequency bands used in WiFi 6. The bandwidth will also be expended to 320MHz as against 160MHz used in Wi-Fi 6.

How does Wi-Fi 7 change the speed?

Wi-Fi 7 elevates wireless experiences and will accelerate emerging use cases, including low-latency extended reality (XR), social cloud-based gaming, 8K video streaming, and simultaneous video conferencing and casting.

Qualcomm Technologies’ Wi-Fi 7 solutions push the boundaries of what Wi-Fi can do, with enhanced speeds, latency and network capacity plus support for advanced features like 320MHz channels, 4K QAM and advanced multi-link implementations such as High Band Simultaneous Multi-Link.

Wi-Fi 7 can deliver peak rates of over 40 Gbps, a 4X increase over Wi-Fi 6E.
