X begins offering voice and video calls to users; here are some details for making the most of it

There are plans to make this functionality accessible to Android users soon, but for the time being, it is only available to X Premium (Twitter Blue) subscribers on iOS.

New Delhi: Audio and Video calling features are now available on X, which is owned by Elon Musk. Musk has been dropping hints about the adoption of the function for quite some time, and the social media platform has now started talking about it.

In addition to being a social networking site, members of X will soon be able to conduct voice and video calls to one another. The social networking website is offering a whole new method of user interaction in the form of voice and video chats. Users may already make voice and video calls to one another on other services like Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat.

There are plans to make this functionality accessible to Android users soon, but for the time being, it is only available to X Premium (Twitter Blue) subscribers on iOS.

This functionality is available to free X users, however, there are certain restrictions. The Direct Messages settings allow the users to manage who can contact them. Calls from persons you follow or have in your address book are automatically accepted. You and the person you wish to contact must have already spoken with each other via Direct Messages before you make the first move and dial their number.

Start by clicking the envelope symbol to view your messages if you wish to alter your calling choices on X. Then, to adjust your Message preferences, press the gear symbol in the upper right. You may toggle the ability to make voice and video calls here. If you activate it, only the individuals you approve may call you. This includes contacts, people you follow, and verified users.

Some Details About the New Feature

The initial step in making a call is opening one’s direct messages, after which the user may either choose an already existing conversation or initiate a whole new one. Calls may be made by selecting the phone icon and then either the “Audio call” or “Video call” options.

When the users dial someone, they will get a notice on their end. Even if they don’t pick up, they will get a notification that they missed a call.

According to screenshots provided by users who have access to the function, X lets users choose who can call them, including contacts, people they follow, and verified individuals.

As part of his plan to make X a more general-purpose service, Elon Musk had revealed this feature back in August. The good news is that not only will iPhones but also Androids, Macs, and conventional PCs be able to make use of these audio and video calling functions. A bonus is that users won’t even need a phone number to take advantage of these options.

This amazing new feature transforms X from a simple online forum into something far more versatile. Users can now interact and communicate in exciting new ways, regardless of the device they’re using, thanks to the incorporation of voice and video calls. This change has the potential to revolutionise the way people use X and other social media platforms.
