New Delhi: The 25-year-old social media personality achieved this milestone within a few hours of joining the app.

New Delhi: Renowned American YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson, popularly known as MrBeast, has made history by setting a Guinness World Record (GWR) as the first person to amass one million followers on Meta’s newly-launched platform, Threads.

Surpassing Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s follower count, the 25-year-old social media personality achieved this milestone within a few hours of joining the app on Thursday and with just three posts.

The announcement of MrBeast’s achievement was made by GWR on Twitter, accompanied by a video capturing the moment when his 999K Threads followers crossed the one-million mark. At the time of writing, the YouTuber had already surpassed three million followers.

Playfully acknowledging his transition from Twitter to Threads, MrBeast jokingly remarked on the app, “I feel like I’m cheating on Twitter by using this app.” He later tweeted at GWR, humorously saying, “Shhhhh, don’t let the twitter police know I’m cheating on them.”

In his Threads profile bio, the self-proclaimed “Future Threads CEO” posed the question to his followers whether Mark Zuckerberg should make him the boss. He wrote, “Like this if @zuck should make me CEO.”

MrBeast, with a subscriber base of over 165 million on YouTube, holds the title of the world’s most-subscribed YouTuber. Additionally, he boasts over 21 million followers on Twitter. Although he is not the first account to surpass the million-follower mark, GWR acknowledged that previous accounts from Instagram and National Geographic had achieved the feat.

Threads, Meta’s text-based app designed to compete with Twitter, became available to users in more than 100 countries, including the United States, India, Britain, Japan, and Australia, on Wednesday night. Since its launch just over 24 hours ago, the Twitter rival has already garnered a staggering user base of over 44 million.

MrBeast’s record-breaking accomplishment on Threads further highlights the app’s growing popularity and its potential to reshape the social media landscape.
