New Delhi: In the latest adaptation of the 2005 film Chatrapathi, Sai Sreenivas Bellamkonda made his debut in Bollywood. Despite the hype, the film did not go well at the box office and was met with mixed reviews from audiences and reviewers alike.
However, Bellamkonda’s devoted fanbase was more interested in the release of Chatrapathi. The highly anticipated Chatrapathi film, which premiered in theatres on May 12, 2023, was made available on OTT on August 15, 2023. You may watch it now on Zee5. Chatrapathi, meantime, was shown on Zee Cinema as an Independence Day special, courtesy of the film’s creators.
Plot
With the release of the Hindi version of the film, also named Chatrapathi, Bellamkonda, a Telugu actor who has previously appeared in films like Sita, Alludu Adhurs, Kavacham, and many more, made his Bollywood debut.
The protagonist in ‘Chatrapathi’ overcame adversity and became the saviour of exploited immigrant workers.
In the story, after being torn from their Sri Lankan community, Shivaji and his family find themselves working as slaves in Visakhapatnam. When his envious stepbrother enters the picture, things only become worse. Shivaji has been cut off from his loved ones by his envious brother’s cruel plan. In this place, Shivaji sets out to locate his mother but ends up becoming the heroic leader of a revolt of the downtrodden.

Review
Critics and moviegoers have had mixed responses to Chatrapathi because of its loud and crass tone, excessive violence, and stereotyped portrayal of women. Critics were split on this remake, with some praising the action scenes and the actors but criticising the film’s predictable narrative and lack of emotional depth.

Furthermore, many have said that the film is a total cringe and a joke of the original because of its obnoxious soundtrack, lacklustre performances, and overall lack of merit.
