Afghanistan: CNN correspondent’s ‘transformation’ after Taliban takeover triggers wave of memes

New Delhi: With Taliban wrestling control of Afghanistan, the chaos and mayhem prevails in Kabul & other adjoining cities. As Taliban consolidates its foothold and looks to establish Sharia law soon, the terrorised citizens are living in a state of fear and panic.

Journalists reporting from Ground Zero too are bearing the brunt of oppressive Taliban offensive.

Photos of Clarissa Ward, CNN’s chief international correspondent has become a talking point on Twitter with many tweeting about her horrific ‘transformation’.

A couple of Twitter users have shared as to how the correspondent changed her attire and look after Taliban took seize of many Afghan provinces including Kabul.


Jon Levine, a journalist working with NewYorkPost, tweeted, “Wardrobe change for CNN’s Clarissa Ward in Afghanistan today.”

Netizens fume at Taliban, laud scribe’s courage

A couple of people also lauded the courage of journalist to report from the riskiest part of the Earth while others took potshots at Taliban’s sudden takeover of Kabul.

Earlier in the day, Clarissa Ward reported that working conditions turned very difficult and risky for local jouranlists. She told a fellow CNN TV host that Afghan journalists especially women were literally petrified.

She also told the host that Western journalists were also in immediate danger and therefore her crew had moved their live shot location indoors to avoid attracting a lot of attention.
