Drones for FAKE rains: Dubai’s unique way to beat the heat…. WATCH

New Delhi: One of the hottest places on earth Dubai is undergoing a sweltering summer. The temperature in Dubai has crossed the 50 degrees Celsius mark. To beat the heat the UAE’s National Center of Meteorology has come with cloud seeding technology where with the help of drone technology artificial rain is being done for instant relief.

The drones fly into clouds and release electric charges which helps water droplets merge together and form precipitation. The process has typically used salt flairs and has come with concerns about the environment, expenses and effectiveness, according to the Desert Research Institute and CNN.

It is expected that by using this technique as a trigger, the amount of rain can be increased.

The Meteorological Center says that the amount of rain can also be increased through cloud seeding. The UAE is one of the 10 hottest countries in the world. It receives an average of only three inches of rain a year.

Projects worth $15 million are being run to increase rainfall and cloud seeding is also a part of that.

Earlier, Professor Martin Ambom of Britain’s University of Reading told the BBC that the number of clouds was sufficient for rain in the UAE. The drone helps the water droplets stick together by releasing the charge. When these droplets become bigger and heavier, then it rains.

The program’s director, Alaya al-Majroi, told Arab News that drones, which release electric charges are carried into the air and create movement in the clouds which causes rain. For this it is seen in advance what is the condition of the clouds.
