New Delhi: A day after India banned 59 Chinese apps, China expressed concerns over the decision and stressed that New Delhi has a responsibility to uphold the legal rights of international investors including Chinese.
“China is strongly concerned about the relevant notice issued by the Indian side. We are checking and verifying the situation,” said Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Zhao Lijian on Tuesday, in first response to India’s decision.
“I want to stress that the Chinese government always asks the Chinese businesses to abide by international rules, local laws and regulations in their business cooperation with foreign countries. The Indian government has the responsibility to uphold the legitimate and legal rights of the international investors including the Chinese ones,” Zhao Lijian.

Ministry of Home Affairs on Monday banned 59 apps with Chinese links, including TikTok and UC Browser, saying they were prejudicial to sovereignty, integrity and security of the country.
This move will safeguard the interests of crores of Indian mobile and internet users. This decision is a targeted move to ensure the safety and sovereignty of Indian cyberspace, Ministry of Information Technology said.
