New Delhi : Veteran English cricketer Kevin Pietersen, lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday, for standing up for the conservation of rhinos in India. He also credited PM Modi’s leadership for increasing number of planet’s rhino species in India.
On Thursday, Pietersen took to twitter to applaud PM Modi, retweeting a tweet from Narendra Modi’s official twitter account, with caption, “Thank you, @narendramodi! A global leader standing up for the planets rhino species! If only more leaders would do the same. And this is the reason why rhino numbers in India are rising exponentially! What a hero!”.

Pietersen’s quoted the tweet of PM Modi where he was praising Assam government’s decision to burn a stockpile of 2000+ rhino horns. The illegal market of single horned rhinos can fetch a high price. PM had tweed, “Commendable effort by Team Assam. The One-Horned Rhino is India’s pride and all steps will be taken for its well-being”.

The prime minister was responding to a tweet by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma in which the CM wrote, “Today is a historic day for Assam & India. We have taken an extraordinary step of burning stockpile of 2479 horns of single-horned Rhinos, first-of-its-kind globally in volume terms, pursuing vision of Hon PM Sri @narendramodi of putting an end to poaching in Assam”.
