New Delhi: Hartalika Teej, is considered to be the day of Lord Bholenath and Mother Parwati. On this day married women keeps a day long fast and offer prayers to Lord Shiva and Mata Parvati and pray for their husband’s long and healthy life.
Haritalika Teej is known as Badi Teej. Every year, , Hartalika Teej or Badi Teej vrat is observed on the Tritiya Tithi, Shukla Paksha in Bhadrapada.
Also, the term ‘teej’ is derived from the word ‘Tritiya’, which means ‘third’.
According to Drik Panchang, this year the festival of Hartalika Teej will be celebrated on August 30 by all the married women in the states of Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi-NCR and other places.
On the occasion of Hartalika Teej, little statues of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati are made with the sand and clay and married worship for marital bliss and progeny.
Hartalika Vrat is known as Gowri Habba in Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu and one this day Goddess Gowri is worshipped and this day is marked as one of the significant festival.
On this day, Gowri Habba women observe Swarna Gowri Vrat to seek blessings of Mata Gowri for happy and blessed married life.
The festival of Teej is basically observed by the women in North Indian states, especially in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and Jharkhand.
