New Delhi: Krishna Janmashtami, also known as Janmashtami marks the birth of Lord Krishna. This day is celebrated across the country and also abroad by the Hindu community and followers of Lord Krishna.

Janmashtami, is also known as Krishnasthami, or Gokulashtami.

This year, Janmashtami 2022 will be widely celebrated in the cities of Mathura and Vrindavan, where Krishna is believed to have been born and spent his growing-up years.

On this day, Krishna devotees observe fast and performing pooja, visit temples.

Janmashtami 2022, is marked on the eighth day of the dark fortnight in the month of Bhadrapada in India. This year, like Rakshabandhan there has been a lot of confusion about the date whether Krishna Janmashtami will be celebrated on August 18 or August 19.

According to Vedic Panchang, Ashtami Tithi will begin from 9.21 PM on August 18 and will end at 10.59 PM on August 19, 2022.

So, as per the Panchang, Janmashtami 2022 will be celebrated on both the days while the Nishith Puja time will begin from 12.02 am on August 18 and ends at 12.48 PM on the same day.

But devotees who wants to keep fast can observe it on August 19.
