Raksha Bandhan 2022: When is Rakhi, on August 11th or 12th? Check details here

When is Raksha Bandhan? Here is full details that you should know about this Rakhi 2022.

New Delhi: Raksha Bandhan 2022 will be celebrated next week. This is one of the  most awaited festivals of the year. Raksha Bandhan symbolises the bond of love between brothers and sisters.

On this day, sisters tie Rakhi  on the wrist of their brother’s, wishing them a long, healthy and prosperous life.

While, brothers on the other hand vow to protect their sisters.

This day is marked as one of the auspicious occasion in the Hindu calendar.

Why do sisters tie Rakhi as per the Muhurt?

Just tying Rakhi is not enough, it is said and is believed that if sisters tie Rakhi at an auspicious time  or Muhurat  , it is set to bring happiness and prosperity to the whole family.

But, this year there is a confusion between people about the day and the auspicious time to celebrate Rakhi. As it falls on the full moon day of the Shravan.

When to celebrate Rakhi on 11th or 12th of August?

This year, it is being said that Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on August 11, 2022. While there are set of people who says that Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on 12th of August as the Purnima tithi, with Bhadra, is a bone of contention.

Check what the Panchang states –

According to Drik Panchang, Purnima would begin on August 11th at 10:38 am and it will end on 12th at 7:05 am. However, there would be Bhadra, along with the Purnima, which means its is not the right time of Muhurat to tie Rakhi, according to mythological beliefs.

If you go through Drik Panchang, it states that Bhadra would remain till the first half of Purnima

It is believed, that during Bhadra one must not tie Rakhi as it is said to be malicious time wherein no auspicious work should be done.

So it is said that, this year one must tie Rakhi after 8:51 pm on August 11th till 12th August during the Purnima tithi, i.e., up to 7:16 am.

Also, because  the timing is inconvenient one can choose the Aparahna tithi or Pradosh tithi.

Pradosh timings: 8:51 pm to 9:13 pm on 11th August.

One can also tie Rakhi before this time during the Bhadra Punchha timing, which begins at 5:17 pm and ends on 6:18 pm on August 11th .
