Importance of Sita Navmi
On the day of Sita Jayanti, married women pray for the long lives of their husbands. Mata Sita is known for her devotion towards her husband-Lord Ram, therefore this day is considered auspicious for married women. Married women on this day observe fast for the well-being of their husbands.

- One should take a holy dip in the river before sunrise and chant the Mantra dedicated to the river.
- Women do fasting on this day. Women fast for the whole day, they can only have fruits and water and can break the fast, the next day.
- You can visit Rama-Sita Mandir and offer prayer there. One should offer flowers and can offer sweets as bhog to Mata Sita.

About the Birthplace of Goddess Sita
There are many stories associated with the Birthplace of Mata Sita. Some believe that she was born in a place name Sitamarhi, in the state of Bihar. Others believe that she was born in some province of Nepal. There is also another angle of the story that says, she was found in the lap of Mother Earth, hidden inside a ploughed field, and was adopted by the King of Mithila, Raja Janak. This is the story according to the Tamil version of Valmiki’s Ramayan.
