New Delhi: The fourth-generation Skoda Octavia will be launching in the Indian market in April 2021, with the deliveries beginning soon after. The Brand Director of Skoda Auto India, Zac Hollis lately confirmed on his Twitter handle, “For all those Octavia fans out there, we plan to launch the all-new Octavia at the end of next month, with deliveries starting from the end of May.

Skoda Octavia 2021 Design

In 2019, the upcoming Skoda Octavia was unveiled globally. Octavia has been based on a reworked version of the Volkswagen MQB platform and is 15mm wider and 19mm longer than its previous model. The 2021 Octavia model has ditched the predecessor’s quad headlights and set up a conventional arrangement, bringing the headlights in a line. The 2021 Octavia has been spy tested in India and seems to look like the international model’s styling cues.

Features

The International-spec Skoda Octavia gets a 10.25-inch Virtual Cockpit cluster, three-zone climate control, 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, digital assistant, connected car technology and wireless phone charging. Most of the kit is expected in the India-bound model.

Engine and gearbox

The upcoming Octavia will be powered by 190hp, a 2.0 litre TSI turbo-petrol engine combined with a 7-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox. The new model will miss out on a diesel engine, as the company’s main focus will be on the petrol segment with the adaptation to BS6 norms.

Estimated price and rivals

The sedan was scheduled to launch in India by the end of 2020. However, due to the pandemic, the launch got delayed to early 2021, and then it shifted to the second quarter. Skoda Octavia 2021 prices are expected to be in a range of Rs. 18-24 lakh (ex-showroom).

Octavia will rival the only Honda Civic and Hyundai Elantra.
