Budget 2023: ACCESS Health International pitches for strengthening public health administration

ACCESS Health International is expecting Budget’s increased emphasis on National health policy and hopes that it will address various ongoing programs under the project.

New Delhi: With days to go for unveiling of Union Budget 2023, recommendations from country’s top businessmen & industrialists are trickling in.

Healthcare sector have lately been on government’s top agenda. Ayushman Bharat Yojana & its ever-increasing impact is a testimony of govt’s renewed push in the sector.

ACCESS Health International is expecting Budget’s increased emphasis on National health policy and hopes that it will address various ongoing programs under the project.

“The issue is not more budget allocation, but how the allocated budget is being efficiently spent”, said Dr. Krishna Reddy Nallamalla, Regional Director, South Asia, ACCESS Health International.

Dr. Krishna Reddy Nallamalla recommends top priority should be given to health promotion through health literacy and multi-sector coordination to address non-medical social and environmental determinants of health.

Dr. Reddy further suggested to improve supply of healthcare services in underserved areas, building needed competencies in the health workforce in addition to increasing the needed numbers.
