New Delhi: Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar has jolted the ranks of the world’s richest as she became India’s seventh woman billionaire and the wealthiest self-made billionaire.

As per AFP report, Falguni Nayar has now entered the world’s wealthiest and this is all because of Nykaa’s recent initial public offer that got listed on the day amid an ongoing IPO boom.

With this achievement, The 58-year-old has now joined only six other women billionaires in India’s Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

Nykaa founder Falguni Nayar is now worth about $6.5 billion as shares of the firm surged as much as 89%. Nykaa shares were being listed at ₹2,018 with around 80 per cent premium. As per reports, Nykaa’s market cap hit an overall valuation of 1 trillion rupees ($13.5 billion) in the first five minutes of trade.

“I started Nykaa at the age of 50 with no experience. I hope the Nykaa journey can inspire each of you to be the Nykaa of your lives,” she said ahead of her company’s listing at the National Stock Exchange (NSE).

Falguni went on to quit her 25-year career in finance to chase her dream of building India’s premier online retailer for beauty and wellness.

Nykaa IPO

With a start in early 2012, Nykaa launched its online portal Nykaa.com. Within a short span of 18 months, Nykaa became India’s no. 1 online destination for beauty products.

The Mumbai-headquartered startup now offers more than 2,500 brands.
