Covid-19: India gets to 2 new vaccines & 1 anti-viral drug

CORBEVAX vaccine is India’s 1st indigenously developed RBD protein sub-unit vaccine against developed by Hyderabad-based firm Biological-E.

New Delhi: The Central government has given approval to 2 new Covid-19 vaccines & 1 anti-viral drug on Tuesday.

Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given emergency use authorization approval to COVID19 vaccines Covovax & Corbevax and an Anti-viral drug Molnupiravir.

Health Minister Dr Mansukh Mandaviya Minister wrote in a recent tweet, “Congratulations India, Further strengthening the fight against COVID-19, CDSCO under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has given 3 approvals in a single day for: CORBEVAX vaccine, COVOVAX vaccine, and Anti-viral drug Molnupiravir for restricted use in emergency situation”.

CORBEVAX vaccine is India’s 1st indigenously developed RBD protein sub-unit vaccine against Covid-19 developed by Hyderabad-based firm Biological-E. It has now become the third covid-19 vaccine to be developed in India.

The Nanoparticle Vaccine, COVOVAX, will be manufactured by Pune-based firm Serum Institute of India.

Molnupiravir, an antiviral drug, will also be manufactured in the country by 13 companies for restricted use under emergency situation for treatment of adult patients with COVID-19 and who have high risk of progression of the disease.
