Maharashtra lockdown rules for COVID-19: Check out services that will remain open and what will be closed

On Sunday, Maharashtra recorded 57,074 new COVID-19 cases, which is the highest number of cases from the day pandemic has started.

Maharashtra extends COVID-19 lockdown till May 31

New Delhi: On April 4, Sunday, the Maharashtra government, announced new guidelines which included strict lockdown on weekends and on weekdays, night curfew has to be followed due to the rapidly increasing number of coronavirus cases.

Chief Minister, Uddhav Thackeray announced these rules after Cabinet meeting. According to the rules, night curfew timings are from 8 PM to 7 AM, but to follow the weekend lockdown it will start from 8 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday.

Under Section 144 of CrPC, prohibitory orders will be in place during weekdays. These rules, for now, have to be followed by 30th April.

Here’s to what’s open and what’s shut:

What’s open

1. Government offices can be in function only with 50% capacity.

2. Essential services to remain open but the ones following it will have to get inoculated as per the Centre’s rules and need to carry a negative RT-PCR report certificate with a validity of at least 15 days.

3. Taxis as public transport can ply on roads but with 50% capacity. As per RTO, Auto rickshaws can only be allowed with two passengers while buses can permit full seating but no passenger can be seen standing.

4. For Private transport, 7 am to 8 pm, Monday to Friday is allowed and for emergencies at other times.

5. Stock market, medical services, electricity, financial services, banking, insurance, telecom, and water supplies can be open.

6. Newspapers can pron and allowed to be circulated.

7. Construction only at places where laborers live can be operated.

8. Shootings of films, serials, and advertisements can be continued but the crowd needs to be maintained.

9. Maximum of 20 people is allowed to attend funerals.

10. Not more than 50 people are allowed at marriage functions.

What’s shut

1. Theatres, sports complexes, multiplexes, auditoriums, cinema halls, clubs, water parks, video parlors, and swimming pools will remain shut.

2. Beauty parlors, salons, malls will remain close.

3. Shops and markets also are closed but essential services shops with proper rules and guidelines will be open.

4. Playgrounds and parks also are closed.

5. Religious places for devotees will be closed though rituals can continue. Priests and staffs have to get themselves inoculated.

6. Social, cultural, religious, or political function places are not permitted.

7. Public places with beaches and gardens from 8 pm to 7 am from Monday to Thursday will remain closed, and from 8 pm on Friday to 7 am on Monday.

8. No Schools, colleges, and private coaching centers are permitted. Though to the extent of exams, there is a relief for 10th and 12th.

9. Industrial processes with the net consumer of oxygen as raw material, are not allowed by default from April 10.

10. Restaurants and bars will remain shut except in hotels. Home delivery and takeaway is allowed from 7 am to 8 pm from Monday to Friday. But on weekends no takeaway is allowed.
