New Delhi: Cremation of renowned doctor and director of Bethany Hospital, Dr John L Sailo Ryntathiang, who died after contracting novel coronavirus aka COVID-19 early on Wednesday was done on the wee hours of Thursday.
He was finally laid to rest at the Riatsamthiah Prebyterian Church cemetary at Lawmali after the residents of Jhaalupara opposed the electric crematorium on Wednesday.
Confirming this, Deputy Chief Minister, Prestone Tynsong informed that the body was taken to the graveyard on late Wednesday night. “The Pastor and elders of the church were waiting at the graveyard,” Tynsong said.
The body of the senior doctor was lying at the Bethany Hospital till midnight.
However, the local residents of Jhalupara had opposed this decision of the Government since they fear that the disease would spread as the crematorium lies right in the middle of the locality.
