Punjab govt extends lockdown till May 1, second state to do so after Odisha

It has become the second government to do so after Odisha. Naveen Patnaik govt has already announced lockdown extension till April 30.

New Delhi: With the number of Coronavirus patients rising to alarming levels, the Amarinder Singh government today decided to extend  lockdown in the state till May 1.

Addressing a press conference today, Captain Amarinder Singh said that the ongoing lockdown to contain the spread of coronavirus should continue, while noting that predictions by health experts about the spread of the pandemic are “horrendous and frightening”.

Quoting figures by doctors & medical officers, he says that if situation goes worse, upto 87% of Punjab residents may be infected by the Covid-19 virus.
