
Russia announces world's first Covid-19 vaccine, Putin's daughter gets vaccinated
New Delhi: Amid the race to develop Covid-19 vaccine, Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday announced the world’s first vaccine for Covid-19 and his daughter has already been inoculated, AFP reported.
“This morning, for the first time in the world, a vaccine against the new coronavirus was registered” in Russia, he said during a televised video conference call with government ministers, as per news agency AFP.

Announcing regulatory approval for a vaccine produced by Moscow’s Gamaleya Institute after shortened trials, Vladimir Putin claimed trials had showed it was safe, worked effectively and formed long-term immunity.”
Russia is the first country to register a coronavirus vaccine. Many scientists in the country and abroad have been sceptical, however, questioning the decision to register the vaccine before Phase 3 trials that normally last for months and involve thousands of people.
